Jeffery Talbert

Superintendent and Co-Chair, The Ohio 8 Coalition

Jeffery S. Talbert is an educational leader who works with school administrators and teachers to provide high-quality teaching and learning in safe, positive and engaging learning environments.  His efforts to inspire confident, creative and open-minded learners are rooted in the belief that it is our job as adults to provide communities where children can explore, experiment and grow.  

Jeff returned to the Canton City School District as Superintendent in August of 2020 after serving seven years as the Superintendent of Alliance City Schools. Before working in Alliance, he served as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District, Superintendent of Osnaburg Local Schools and Principal of Canton McKinley Sr. High School.  

Jeff is a Timken Alumni Association Hall of Fame Inductee. He has received the Legacy of Excellence Award from Jobs for America’s Graduates, the Urban Icon Award and the Buckeye Association of School Administrator’s 2024 Exemplary Leader Award.  In addition, he participated in the 2010-2011 Ohio Education Policy Fellowship Program as well as the Harvard Graduate School Executive Leadership Program for Educators. Jeff received his BA from Muskingum University and his Masters of Education from Ashland University. 

Jeff’s family includes his wonderful wife Kelly and four children: Shela, Jeff, Nick, and Natasha.
