
Pat Shipe
President of the Akron Education Association
Pat Shipe is entering her 15th year as President of the Akron Education Association (AEA). She holds a bachelor’s degree in P-K Early Childhood Education, a post-baccalaureate degree in Special Education, and a master’s degree in Literacy, all from The University of Akron.
As President of the Akron Education Association, Ms. Shipe leads an organization of professional educators dedicated to advocating for shared leadership, high-quality public schools, and public policies that place children at the center of education. The AEA is committed to working collaboratively with parents, families, and communities to ensure every student has access to an excellent public education.
Ms. Shipe also currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Ohio 8 Coalition, representing nine of Ohio’s largest urban school districts. Throughout her career, she has been a passionate advocate for strengthening public education and ensuring that the voices of educators are reflected in policy decisions. She believes that a strong and vibrant public school system is essential to the success of Ohio’s K–12 students, their families, and the communities they serve.
